Celebrating 126 Years
The College Endowment Association of Milwaukee presents outstanding lectures and films on diverse topics from October through February. Topics range from literature to current events to travelogues to the latest science research.
CEA, founded in 1890 celebrated its 125th anniversary and is now in its 126th year. The costume in the adjacent photo was worn to introduce a speaker and welcome guests to a lecture program. The Gibson Girl style dress became popular in the late Victorian era and is reminiscent of that period. One can imagine a similar style dress may have been worn to a College Endowment lecture in the Athenaeum in the 1890’s.
The 2016-2017 program year opens with speaker Kimberly Motley describing the rule of law in Afghanistan. Motley is a practicing attorney and litigator who has worked in Afghanistan since 2008. She is founder to Motley Legal Services and cofounder to Motley Consulting International. At present, she is the first foreigner who has ever litigated cases in Afghanistan’s Criminal Courts and has a strong litigious practice focusing on criminal, commercial, contract, civil, and employment law matters. The year will end with Mentalist Ross Johnson and an optional luncheon.
